I get oodles of compliments on this dress. I love that it gives me an opportunity to talk about one of my favorite topics, books.
I've been lusting after this dress for a couple years before I finally broke down and bought it. I'm so glad I did. It looks even better in person! The print is stunning and the colors are so vibrant.
Beautiful
Librarian here, this book dress is amazing for outreach; it's a conversation starter with patrons of all ages from middle school to senior citizens. Wear it, and people will just walk up to you and start talking about books. Years ago, my husband bought me a similar dress of the exact same fabric from Modcloth (before Modcloth turned to trash). I wore it all the time, everyone loved it. I've gained some weight, it's fitting tighter than it used to, so I don't wear it anymore unless I'm willing to put on Spanx. I looked all over for an equally great book dress in a larger size. I purchased lesser book prints in poor attempts to recreate the classic, old-book magic that is this fabric. Then, unexpectedly, I chanced onto Retrolicious. I searched "book dress" just like I always do on all new sites, and completely lucked out. I'm 5'11" 195 lbs, and XL fits perfectly right out of the bag, and it's actually knee length on me (my old book dress hits above the knee) so, win! I love the fabric so much, I bought the skirt, too, for those events when my library requires I wear a branded T-shirt. I foresee many conversations with strangers about books in my future. Books for the win!
